Frederick Fernandoz

Hello hoping for some assistance in locating records relating to Frederick Fernandoz who arrived in Australia in 1862. I can find records of his arrival from Otago to NSW in 1863 as a crew member - but not sure how he arrived to NZ. Stories say that he did jump ship and took the papers - hence the odd name. We think that his original name was Frederick Bernhard fredrikson, or Ferdinand Bernhard Sorenson from Troms Norway. Born 7 Oct 1839. He is my great great grandfather. Many thanks! Linda
