great-grandfather orphaned on ship

My great-grandfather's parents died on the ship as they were traveling to America in 1843. He was adopted by a family and became Lasse (Elias) Jones. I have also ran across the name Hansen. Does anyone know how to find records of passengers who died and were buried at sea? Terry Rowe [email hidden]
