How do I Find a Passenger

I KNOW my grandfather - Martin P. Hogseth (born 1862) - immigrated from Norway around 1879-80, and settled in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, USA; he died there in June 1944. I think he came through the port of Philadelphia. Without success, I have exhausted my attempts to find any records on his immigration, including passenger lists or dates. Being new and inexperienced to this type of geneological search, I would be very thankful for any assistance. My email is [email hidden]. Thanks much!! Steve Hogseth
