Hello Kåre et all! It's been years but I'm back...[:D] I'm on a mission to find where my 5 times great-grandfather Kristian Kristiansen Toe or Jore is buried. There are records showing he came to the US with his son in 1852 from the Toe farm in Gransherad, Norway. I have also found some documents showing that his wife (Anne Hem) died and was buried in the Scandinavia Cemetery in Scandinavia, WI shortly after they immigrated. But I have no luck finding her grave stone. He remarried and lived on his son's farm in Iola, WI until1893. I found his second wife's stone at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church cemetery in Iola, WI, but no stone for Kristian. The Gransheradsoga says that he moved to Hem farm in Sauland with no official mention of him emigrating to the US. So...i'm wondering if his first wife and later he were send back to Norway to be buried with family? Did this happen back then to first generation immigrates? How do I find out if he was buried on Hem or at the local parish? Thanks everyone...glad to be back on the forum.
