John Pearson

Hi, I'm from Australian and am trying to track down information on an ancestor of mine for my family tree, I've been able to track him to Norway based on his Death Certificate but am struggling to navigate the Norwegian geneology sources. His name (in Australia) was John Pearson. He died in Australian 22nd March 1913, his death certificate states he was 76 but his gravestone states he was 77. I have no date of birth or names of his parents, only that the Death Certificate says he was born in in "Karagira, Norway", which I suspect is a mispelling of a county or province. The only other useful information I have is that he lived in New South Wales for 54 years, however that doesn't necessarily mean that he arrived in Australia then or that he originally arrived in New South Wales. I have combed through the arrivals histories of Australia's shipping records without much luck. I do know he married when he arrived in Australia. If anyone could put me on the right track to finding out more (or any information on him) it would be much appreciated. Thanks,
