Karen is found in the burial records of the Prairie Home Cemetery (you know, the one which gave it's name to Garrison Keillor's radio show The Prairie Home Companion), in Moorhead, Clay county, Minnesota. The records give her birthdate as 24 June 1779 b. Norway and her parents as Tollef Lindaat (or maybe Lindsat?) and Helle. Either Karen or her mother were born on Kolstad. Karen died 8 July 1888 of old age and was buried 9 July in Lot 87 at the cemetery. Her burial is not marked. I noodled around a little bit looking for her and these links are about her in some US records. In both the 1880 and 1885 census listings she is found living with her daughter Elise/ Eliza and son-in-law Carl Goebel, first in Goodhue county, Minnesota then in Moorhead, Clay county, Minnesota and her daughter in the 1900 census: Karen Bikjen in 1885 census of Moorhead, Clay County, Minnesota https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MQXC-8MS Karen Bikjen in 1880 census of Goodhue county, Minnesota m-in-law of Carl Goebel (Elise Goebel) https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MZ94-GZ8 daughter Eliza Goebel res of Moorhead, Clay County, Minnesota in 1900, b. Mar 1833, mother of 7 / 2 living, occ physician, migration date indexed as 1859. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M9SS-2YG A person of such an advanced age in 1888 has to be rare so I'm curious where she came from in Norway.
