Looking for Commercial Shipping Manifest Leads

My grandfather left Christiania around 1905-1910. I have little information to start my search other than his name and date of birth, Caesar Johan Backe, b. 14 Aug 1891, that he born in or around Christiania, and his parents names are Carl Johan Backe and Jesnine Nilsen (unsure of some of the spellings). He said his father, Carl, was Master of a merchant sailing vessel, and they made trade runs to USA. I am hoping to be able to find information on the vessel and it's voyages as well as background on my ancestors. Any help on where to start searching will be very appreciated.
