looking for great grandpa

My mother has written a book of our family. It stops with her grandfather Thomas Thompson (I'm sure Thompson was not spelled correctly) He was born in Drammen November 19 1861. We would love to know his mothers name and his fathers name. He came here from Oslo (according to my grandmother) Anything would be helpful. We were told by my grandmother that he came here as a teenager between 1879-1883. He died in Chicago (in a Norwegian Old Peoples home) in 1943. He had two wives the first we don't know, they had a son Andrew. The second Eugenia my great-grandmother, they had Alice and Arthur. Thats all I've got, I don't know where to start. Thanks
