Looking for John Forland

I am trying to search for records or information on my mothers grandfather that came from Norway. He was married in Mount Hope in Australia in 1885. He stated on the marriage certificate that he was born in Norway but did not state where or his parents names. He was 36 years of age when he married which means he would have been born 1848/49. If anyone can help me as to where I may find any more information on him it would be very much appreciated. Thankyou.
