Looking for Peter Simonsen or Simonson

My ggrandfather was from Oslo, Norway. On the 1900 Fed Census for Mobile, Ala. he is 74, born in Aug of 1825 or 26. He stated that he had been in the USA for 60 years. According to this information, he came here in 1840. According to family information from the Bible, he went from Oslo to New York then to Chicago, IL. From there he went to Mobile, AL were he spent his life. He is buried there. Would like information on the ship, list, or any information you can help me with. Thank you so much if you can.
