need help finding PAULSEN

New to forum.. hope I can get help on finding my great great grandfather. I have tracked my family back to his arrival in the US in 1853. His name in all the records in America is George ( or Geo ) Paulson. ( or Paulsen ). He came from Norway, first mention of him is in Decateur WI in 1860. His birth year is listed as Feb 1835. Cannot find anything close in passenger lists. Don't know where in Norway... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!!
