Nelson Gerhard Dahl Peterson/Nelson in Minnesota

Nelson with surname Nelson or Peterson left Norway for Hull, England on the Salmo in 1905. He was bound for Minneapolis and sought farm work, according to emigration records in Norway. He married a woman called Charlotte. He must have made some money as an old photo shows him with a car. I can't find him in the Ellis Island registers or Social Security Death Index. Probably haven't hit on the right name or spelling - don't know what he called himself "over there". Any help with information about him or his family/descendants would be much appreciated. Best wishes from Moss, Norway.
