O. Ivar Ruud

Hi, Having just read The Year-Long Day by A.E. Maxwell and Ivar Ruud published in 1976, I'm curious to know where in Norway Ivar Ruud is from. The book is autobiographical / biographical but doesn't contain the answer. (Such facts are spare in the book. He is characterized as a "Norwegian farm boy" who left home at age 14 to live on the streets in Oslo, age 15 joined the Merchant Marine, 1967-1973 lived on Spitsbergen Island, 1976 lived in Los Angeles, California) Does anyone on forum know the answer?
