Olaf Dahl born Bergen 1859

The above made a voyage of emigration to Hull England on 26 Feb 1885. Can anyone translate for me - Sex Status is give as G - what does G mean? Occupation is given as Somand - is this sailor? Residence is given as De Forenede Frist - what does this mean? Also if he was a sailor where would I find records of his previous voyages as a crew member? I would be very grateful for any help.
