Old Records

If I need to find information in the Arkivet for someone born abt 1590 and died about 1655, how would I look it up? The name is Trond Hausa. It appears to me that the records don't go back that far, yet I found the birth and death in another family tree. But it didn't list any sources. Are there other sources that would help with the old records? I don't want to use the information in some else's tree without finding the proof myself. Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.
