Probate Records: Sorenskriveri / Prosti?

I'm looking at the FHL catalog for Probate Records (skifteprotokoller) in Vang, Hedmark. There are two types of records available, which more or less cover the same period of years: Sorenskriveri and Prosti. Can someone explain the difference between these? Thanks!
