Searching immigration

Hi, I know my great grandfather came over from Norway in 1868, Helge Halvorson Skadeland (don't know if that is the way it was spelled) I know the place was Skadeland, Buskared, Eggedal, Norway. I can't find him on any ship or where he went when he got here. I think Winneshiek co in Iowa but can't find anything in the records there either. Can you help? Thanks ! [:)]
