Ship leaving bergen

Hi! am trying to find out about an ancestor who emigrated to the U.S. I got his name and all but i cant find the passenger list and ship he sailed with. He left Bergen in 1886 05-04, i've tried to search for what ships that left in that time period but can't find something that matches. It was written that he left with allan line. Any suggestions of what ship he could have left with from bergen? Was it also common to change ship in hull, liverpool etc?
