Sponsat?

I notice for a record in 1749 for Anders Daniesen Gransjøen and Helan Samuelsdatter Peistorpet the word that appears to be Sponsort is used. This is I would assume their engagement. Could someone explain the use of this word. See third record down on the left page Link Date is 20 p Trin ie Oct 19, 1749 I did find their marriage record about half way down the same page.
