Hello,
I’ve had many unresolved mysteries and brick walls in certain people that form part of my Norwegian ancestry.
I’ll get right to the point; I need help finding more information about people in my tree.
PEOPLE:
• An ancestor of mine is named Aron Andersen and he was born on December 25th of 1826, in Blomskog, Sweden. He emigrated from Sweden to Norway, married a Norwegian, and died on July 16th of 1905 in Larvik, Norway. His marriage was to Maren Kristine Andersdatter on January 26th of 1862 in Brunlanes. She was born on October 16th of 1835 in Norway.
The problem is that I’d like to find more information about them, from bygdebøker and other documents, images, or stories. I’d also like to know more about how Aron became a Norwegian.
• One of their children, Johan Albrecht Aronsen, was my ancestor. He was born on July 23rd of 1865 in Brunlanes and he immigrated to New York City in the 1880s. His first son, Carl J Aronsen was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1893. But, his next son, Haakon (Harold) Aronsen, was born in Larvik, Norway on 16th of May 1895.
The problem is that I’d like to know more information about Johan’s upbringing and his immigration. And, I’d like to know about his son, my ancestor, Haakon, and why he was born in Norway, instead of New York. Was it common for Norwegian families who immigrated to go back and visit their family?
Thank you to anyone who at least stops by for some advice or some well-needed help.
