the landing

I am writing a book about my grandmother and her voage from Egersund Norway to America. A lot of what I know is what I was told, I would like to know if anyone knows of a sight I can go to for the information about the landing. ie: how much money they had to have on them to stay, how long were they kept at Ellis Island before they were allowed to continue their trip.those kinds of questions. thank you ..martha Couch.
