Tombstone translation help.

Can this forum translate this for me. The Norwegian-English dictionaries have not been able to identify many of these words. They are from a tombsone of my cousin Peder Hanson born January 11, 1831and died January 19, 1901. He came from Froen, Oppland in 1855. The words are: Hans strid er endt, han freden fandt som kampens maal han seier vandt. The tombstone is very hard to read, so there could be some letters wrong.
