Hello Svein,
Heyerdahl Berg and wife came to the US already in 1906, according to the 1916 mainfest. Their destination was Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota.
His wife Magna is born in Larvik, Norway, while both children are born in Duluth, MN.

MHS (Minnesota Historical Society) Death Certificate Index shows that
  • HEYERDAHL BERG, born 08-JUL-1880, dead 09-OCT-1964, County of Death: ST. LOUIS, SSN:470-09-7778.
  • MAGNA C. BERG, born 13-OCT-1887, dead 10-APR-1972, County of Death: ST. LOUIS.
There is a listing of one "Magna C. Larsen" from Sandherred, who arrived in New York on October 02, 1906, departuring from Christiania with the ship "The United States" on September 21st.

Hi,
you've probably seen this then:
Heyerdal Berg Petersen left Trondheim on 16-May-1906...

It's really hard to locate Victoria and Ethel, since they most likely changed their last name if they got married.
I think you need to locate their birth certificate first, which shouldn't be to hard, since both Victoria and Ethel looks to be born in Duluth, St. Louis, MN....

Read How to order a birth or death certificate from the Minnesota Department of Health.

Hi You should check out the St Louis County GenWeb site Click Here You could try contacting the Historical society or Join the mail list and post a query. If you can get a copy of the death certificate you might get either Victoria or Ethels married name since a relative usually supplied the information and had their name and address listed. You can order them from the Minnesota Historical society (where Jan found the death records) Click Here although there is a fee.
You could also try joining the Norway-L mailing list Click Here and post a query. The people on the list are very helpful, many are from Minnesota, and there might be someone who could do a lookup of the death certificate.
Good Luck Carla

In the January 1920 census for Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota, ED 133, sheet 1B we find:

Heyerdahe Berg, 39, owns home, born Norway, immigrated 1906, carpenter, house builder
Magna C., 31, born Norway, immigrated 1906
Victoria E.-8, Ethel L.-7, Alice L.-3, Violet M.- 1 4/12.

In the April 1930 census for Duluth, ED 69-74, sheet 20B, we find:
Heyerdahl Berg, 49, born Norway, age at 1st marriage-36, (about 1914), immigrated 1906, carpenter-builder.
Magna C., 42, age at first marriage-29, immigrated 1906
Ethel L.-17, Lucile E.-13, Violet M.-11, Floyd W.-9, all born in Minnesota.

Couldn't find Victoria in the 1930 census nor was she listed in the MN Historical Society Death Index so she might have gotten married by then, she would have been about 18.

Alice and Lucile might be one and the same person, the ages are the same, these census' are not very accurate.

Minnesota has gotten very strict about ordering ordering birth or death certificates, you have to specify that you want an "uncertified" copy, otherwise, you have to have your request notarized. This does not apply to the Minnesota Historical Society death certificates, they are uncertified and anyone can order them.

Good luck
