The brothers Tarald born 1854, Ludvig born 1858 and Soeren Bertinius born 1867 with the surname of Taraldsen (or may be Gramstad) lived in New York in 1897. They were born in Stavanger, Norway and their father was Johan Tobias Taraldsen Gramstad born 1834, and their mother was Anne Dorthea Olsen born 1833 in Stavanger. i can't find them in any shipping list, so now I will try to ask anyone out there if you know anything about these men and their families.

Yours sincerely
Bente in Norway

More information would be helpful.

Since their father was Johan, wouldn't they be Johansen, not Taraldsen?

A link to the 1865 census would provide more clues.

When you say you have searched in shipping lists, what lists do you mean? Digitalarkivet or U.S. databases? No use in duplicating efforts.

When did they emigrate? Did they stay in U.S. or return to Norway?

Good morning,

My grandfather Ludvig Gramstad (1858-1926) went back to Norway, where he died in 1926.

Soren B. Gramstad (1867) changed his name to Ben Johnsen, and settled in USA.

I have no information about Tarald Olai (1854) Gramstad's whereabout in America. Having tried to search numerous web-pages, his name has never turned up. Maybe he did like his brother Soren, and changed his name.

Any information about Tarald Olai and his family would be welcome.

Yours sincerely
