Hi, I am looking for more information on Ole Johansen. He supposedly came to Norsewood, NZ from Norway with his son Olaf in 1872. Ole was 40 when he got to NZ and Olaf was 9.

I am also trying to find out about Ole's parents and maybe a wife???

If anyone has any information about them please let me know.

Read the article below and you'll find a couple links to a New Zealand researcher who has been quite active.

Hi,
here they are in Christiania in census-1865

Ole Johansen (34), working at Egers brewery, born Saalør
Marte Christophersdr (34), wife, born Nittedal
Oluf Olsen (3), born Christiania
Josephine Olsdr (1), born Christiania

Note: "Saalør" should prob. be Solør in Grue, Hedmark.
Christiania = Oslo

Emigration on the Høvding in 1872:
Ole Johannesen (40)
Marthe Kristoffersen (40)
Oluf Johannesen (10)
Josefine Johannesen (4)

Oluf
Born 09-Mar-1862, Chr 22-Jun-1862, Gamle Aker church, Oslo
Parents: Ole Johannesen & Marthe Christophersdr, Vestre Sagene

Josephine Clara
Born 06-Feb-1865, Chr 05-Jun-1865, Gamle Aker church, Oslo
Parents: Ole Johannesen & Marthe Christophersdr, Vestre Sagene

A very good possibility for Marthe:
Marthe Kristoffersdr
Christening: 08 JUL 1832, Nittedal, Akershus
Parents: Christopher Jensen & Johanne Nicolaisdr

You probably noticed that Josephine's age on the Høvding didn't fit with her chr record..., the girl born 06-Feb-1865 must have died as an infant; the parents had a new girl named Josephine in 1867:

Josephine Martha
Born 24-Sep-1867, Chr 01-Jan 1868, Gamle Aker church, Oslo
Parents: Ole Johannesen & Marthe Christophersdr, Maridalsveien 191

Marthe's brother Ole Christophersen is one of the Godparents.
