Hello. This is the first time I try to find a relative this way.
I am looking for a half brother of my grandmother. His name is Kristoffer Olsen born 10 of dec 1886 in Nötteröy Norway. His mothers name Josefine Hansdatter Myhre, fathers name Kristoffer Hansen.(They were not married). Her first husband (my grandmothers father Andreas Olsen)
When she married the second time in 1906 Kristoffer dicided to leave because he could not like his new "father". He went to America and he sent two postcards to his mother and after that nothing. I have been looking in different pages on the internet but I can not find him. If there are someone who know something about him I whould be very thankful.

Goran,

You probably have this information regarding Kristoffer's birth record, but it may help others if I post it.

Do you have any idea where Kristoffer settled in the US?

I tried to find Kristoffer in the emigration records - and can't. Sometimes those records give an indication of where the emigrant was headed for.

Have you found it?

There is a "Christopher A. Olson", 34 years old in the 1910 US census who is living in Powell County, Montana and he lists his year of immigration to the US as 1907.

The only Kristoffer Olsen that I could find at Ellis Island is: Kristoffer Olsen Eikefjord, arriving on 2 May 1907 on the ship Oscar II, port of departure was Christiansund and his last place of residence was Londfjord, Sikefjord, which may be the same one that Hopkins found in Montana. Of course, it didn't tell us where his final destination was.

Goran,

Please clarify your statement about 1906. Did you mean Josefine remarried in 1906, or Kristoffer left in 1906? Do you know when Kristoffer left?

I have a hunch we may be looking for a "Kristoffer Hansen" in the US.

Thank you for answering. I have been searching at Ellis Island
and found some Kristoffer Olsen but it seems not to be the right one.
