I wonder if someone would be kind enough to translate the birth register for me at the following link:

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070329640676.jpg

The entry is the third one down, left hand page. It is for Henrich Christian Tha..? Last name of Wölner.

Thanks so much,

Elizabeth

Henrich Christian Thaulow was born April 9 1818 and baptized June 7. His parents were police officer Johan Andreas Wølner and his wife Sophie Frederike Tønder.
In a note is stated that Henrich Christian was the husbands 3rd child and the wifes 4th child.

I don't know if you have seen the baptismal record for Henrich Christians father Johan Andreas, but just to show you it is the one next to the last record on right page. Johan Andreas was baptized Sept 11 1780. Henrich Christians grandfather then is Monseigneur Christian Wølner.
Henrich Christians uncle Christian was baptized Febr 25 1774, see 5th record from bottom of right page.
His other uncle Carl Engenius was born Febr 13 1777, see 3rd record on right page.

Finally managed to get back here. Thank-you so very much. No, I would not have seen any of those entries without your help. Presumably the exemption from prior engagement was due to the fact that the bride was pregnant. Can you tell me what Monseigneur mean in Norwegian ? I only know it from the French.

Christian Wølner was empolyed in silver mines at Kongsberg Sølvverk.

His father Andreas Wølner was "Hyttemester" master of the Smelting Cabin from March 19. 1738, mentioned 1747 and 1767.
Andreas Wølner was born to Christian Wølner Mai 1710, christened June 6.
6 juni Christan Wølners Søn (Son) Andreas, see last baptism on left hand here

Andreas Wølner died as a married man at age 86 1/2 in 1796, the funeral was in the cemetry at Kongsberg church on Nov. 22. see last posting in 3. column here

Christian Wølner was born in Germany about 1671 and was emplyed as a "Understiger" foreman in "Gabe Gottes" silver-mine in 1696 (Gabe Gottes means Gods Help in German) and "Oberstiger" master foreman 1704,, "Geschworner" assistent to the Director of the Silver mines Nov. 24. 1704, the salary in 1723 was 250 Riksdaler.
August 7. 1724 he was "Overpukkwervalter" master of the Quarry , the salary was 300 Riksdaler.
Christian Wølner retired with pension April 30. 1742.

The old Smelting Cabin was located by the water fall here, the photo show the new cabin from 1844

The heading "Geschworner" and "Oberstiger" is German, lots of German miners settled down in Kongsberg when the silver mines were opened and often German words for occupation were used.
Because of a large unemployment among German miners in the 1600 some of the early German engeneers were actually headhunted by the king.

Margrete Warbjerg died Oct. 5. buried Oct. 11. 1699 in Kongsberg, see central right page 5. line abowe from the date 1700, right from the small nr. 11/10, Margrete Warbjerg.

Engraves done by Casper in Oslo on 5 coins and 4 medals are kept in the museum. This was in connection to king Christian V visit 1685.

Here is 4 of Caspers work from the Royal Mint in Kongsberg from 1686-94-99 and 1794 which were enlarged and fastened to the rail on the city-bridge when it was fixed a few years ago, see here.

Casper was born to Daniel Barth and Mette Scneberg.

It´s much information about Daniel Barth online and in local books so I will try to sort out the most "important" .
