I am looking to find who Peter Halvorsen married.

Peter Halvorsen
Born - 23 June 1811
Mo, Telemark, Norway

Died - 21 Sept 1885
Houston, Houston, Minnesota

Parents
Halvor Petersen
Birgithe Olsdatter

Peter Halvorsen immigrated to the United States, I don't know when. In 1880 it says he was widowed.

He had two sons that I know of.
Swan Peterson Born 10 Oct 1836 in Norway
John Peterson Born in 1846 in Norway

Thanks

Cory

I also found a daughter Birgit born oct 4, 1834 and baptized Nov 9, 1834 in Vraadal. No 8 right page:

I'm not sure if this is the correct one, because I have not found a John (or Jon, Johannes etc) born to them.

Hi.
This family in Kviteseid is very promising Vivi, a wedding was usually held in the bride home.
Svend was Swan in the US.

Petter Halvorsen who married Sigrid Svendsatter was born 1811, see the em. record, both emigrated 1861 with the son Halvor and his son Petter born out of wedloc 1851, his mother was Signe Halvorsdatter from Skafså, see right page #13-14-15-16

Their son Svend Pettersen emigrated 1859, see right page #37
No John found.

Perhaps these in Minnesota 1860 census
Isabell was a typical Americanized name. It was not common in Norway.

Hasto:

That could be a possiblity. Fillmore County is next to Houston County.

Hi
The Peter who married in Vrådal must be the same as the Peter born in Mo/Skafså, because here he is leaving the parish Mo Mars 27, 1827 and going to Vraadahl. No 111:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8005&idx_id=8005&uid=ny&idx_side=-156

Could the name Iver become John in US? And is a difference of 5 years in birthyear possible? An artistic 1 could it look like 6?

Vivi:

I don't believe that Iver could become John. I am not sure Though.

I have looked at all the census records that I know John peterson was on and none of them list an immigration year, except one. 1910 says 1886 but he had three children born in the United States before that.

I do not know at this time if she is somehow related to Olena Javner. This side of my family is fairly new to me.
