I am seeking the ancestry of Torris Braa and his wife Elen (birth date 1856 for both). Elens maiden name may be Elen Andersdatter. They immigrated to America May 16 1883 by Dominion Ship Line Ship name Dampsk...and their residence was listed as Trondheim. The following was taken from the Shipping information for Torris. They were travelling with 2 small children. They are my great-grandparents and I would appreciate any help finding information on them.

Dominion Info:

Thank you for all the information. I have been at a loss finding any ancestry for the Braas. I am hoping to visit Norway as both my grandfathers (hansen and jensen) and my great grandparents(braa) are all from Norway and I am very excited to have this information.

Is it difficult to find the preceding line of ancestry to the parents for both Torris and Elen? Thanks

Elens parents were married June 6 1845, see #25.
Handwriting not easy to read. I believe it says " Begge født og opholder sig i Stiørdal" - (Both born and living in Stjørdal).
Erik Lorentzen was 27 years old. Anne Hansdatter was 20 (or 30) years old.

Tørris had a brother, Peder, born June 22 1853, see #31.

Tøris Olsen, 10 years, in 1865. His father, Ole Thoresen (47 years old) is here married to his second wife, Marit Torgersdatter. Their marriage record of June 4 1863 is #8.
Tøris Olsens grandfather was Tore Halvorsen.

Tøris mother, Karen Johnsdatter died Oct 25 1861, 35 years old, see #30.

Tøris Olsens father Ole Thoresen was born Oct 15 1819, see #27. He was an #uægte# child, his mother was Berith Christophersdatter, Braae and the father was Thore Halvorsen, Mønbjør.
The parents were married July 15 1823, see #6.

Tøris Olsens mother Karen Jonsdatter was born May 20 1827, see #11, her parents were Jon Gudmundsen, Langørgen and Karen Andersdatter.
Jon Gudmundsen and his parents in 1801.

Is Torris Olsen Braas father mentioned in the marriage record #20 above Ole Tørrisen Braa the same as the Ole Thoresen just mentioned in the above?

Groom's Father's Name: Ole Tørrisen Braa.

It is difficult to read some of the documentation. Thank you for taking the time to send them with the information.

Tørris = Tøris and Tørrisen = Thoresen, see also the 1865 census posted 15/10/2011.

Is it too difficult to read the groom father name and the brides father name? I cannot read their names. Thanks

I believe Eriks bapt record is #23 - parents Lorents Augustinusen, Kartem and Ingeborg Johnsdatter.
Anne Hansdatters bapt record difficult, uncertain age at marriage and very common name are the causes.
