I'm looking for boat records for Anders Zacharias Benjaminson (aka Andrew Skei, arrived 1898 in MN) and his sons, John Mark Anderson and Albert Skei (both arriving 1893 in MN). Also, I'm wondering if there are relatives who still reside on Donna Island, Nordland, Norway. Any information would be appreciated.

Albert A Skei left from Trondheim on Tasso, link.

In 1914 he had been on a visit and returned with Finmarken, link.

Albert was enterprising and this is a "boat" related record though not the one you seek...

Moorhead Daily News; Friday, August 12, 1932 pg 1, col 6:
"11 Anglers taken in Pelican Lake Area this week
Game wardens arrest pair with 560 ft net, 97 fish
....."Albert Skei, Cooperstown, N.D. who owns a cottage on a point between Fish and Bass lakes which is seperated from the mainland by a deep swamp, and Elmer Mickelson of Pelican Rapids, his companion were brought before a justice of the peace in Pelican Rapids and paid fines and costs totaling $108.20, Streich said. In addition Skei was forbidden to fish in any manner in Minnesota waters for one year and Mickelson is prohibited from using a net. Their boat and net were confiscated...."

You might get his obituary through Pennington County Historical Society. Here is his indexed listings at their site pchs.org :

That's so funny. Thank you Jkmarier.
Thank you, Einer, for the info about Alberts trip over. I believe John Mark was with him. According to my grandmother who was John Marks daughter, the two sons decided to leave Norway after they were caught in a great storm off the coast of Nordland in 1992. They were fishermen by trade.

The 1900 census has Andreas (Andrew) as having immigrated in 1892. I don't believe that is accurate, however:

They were born on Dønna
When Albert was back on a visit in 1914 he went to Herøy

Herøy is an island south of Dønna (connected to Dønna with a bridge today).

I have passed farm Skei were they were born many times when my grandparents lived, my mother was born on Dønna ca 7 Miles North of Skei.

It is a beautiful island

Thank you Kare! Do you know if relatives still live in the area? It would probably be from Anders Benjaminsons second marriage.

Unlikely, the two daughters from that marriage came to US. Petra and Alma. Petra married an Austinson and died early about 1906 or so and Alma married and had a large family and lived to a great age but in Clay County, Minnesota. Andres died at Alma's house in 1909.
