He was born in Verdal in North-Trøndelag, and according to the Emigrants via Trondheim 1867 - 1930, he left for Duluth in MN September 5, 1905. Will you be able to find information about him in US and what happened to his life there?

His sister Julie Lerstad travelled to America in 1906 to her friend Lena Olsen in Crystal Falls Michigan. Located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, borders Wisconsin.

This might be a clue. She is married Dec 25, 1909 in the original record, not the 1907 that the transcription says. Also one of the Witnesses is Adolf Lerstad, could be your John Adolf Lerstad?
Married in 1909, husband's first name is likely Sven.

A girl Gurine Lerstad is married in 1909 in Superior Wisconsin in the same church as recorded the burial of John Lerstad shown above. One of the witnesses for this wedding is a Julia Lerstad.

So some work to determine the relationship between all of the Lerstad men and women who settled abound 1900 to 1910 in the region of Minnesota and Wisconsin near Duluth/ Superior. This is likely the baptism of Gurine Lerstad born Dec 20, 1880. Father is Ole Nilsen Lerstad and mother is Johanna Kristensdatter.

Of the 25 people leaving Norway carrying *Lerstad in their name a few found in the Emigrants database only one resides at Verdalen at time of departure. The majority are leaving from Leksvik / Lexvigen. Some of the Leksvik people have patronymics associated also: Nicolaisen, and Olsen. What patronymic does Johan Adolf have?

At the old fulton history newspaper site, there is a picture of Nikoline Lerstad as a member of a performance group in a Duluth newspaper.

Regards other Lerstad relationships: Gurina's marriage to Gust Fleming was witnessed by an Adolf Lerstad. In a newspaper account of their marriage license Gust is listed as resident of St. Louis county and Gurina as a resident of Douglas county.

Nels Lerstad bought from the US Federal gov't 80 acres 2 miles south of Brookstown, Minnesota in St. Louis county in 1909. This is along the far southern edge of St. Louis county on the border with Carlton county.
Not much meat on this bone but Adolph Lerstad declared his intention to become a citizen while in Minnesota:

In 1902 Adolph Lerstad, Julia Lerstad and Gurine Lerstad all lived at 429 John av, Superior, Wisconsin, USA. The original post for this topic states that John Adolf Lerstad emigrated in 1905. so either there is another Adolph in the family other than the John Adolf first posted or John Adolf travelled to America earlier than 1905. Or the date is wrong on the transcriton. Also he is listed as Student and I would not think that John Adolf Lerstad would be a student at his age.

Gurine did travel to America in 1902. She was going to her brother Halvor Lerstad in Cottowood, Minnesota.

They had quite a collection of Lerstads at 429 John ave in 1902. (Date is wrong should be 1907-1908)) Here is Nels Lerstad there as well.

Aha!, The year of 1902 has bothered me from day one. However page one started the names alphabetically from A with no cover page and no date. But after looking at the entry for Nels I started going backwards in the directory until I ran out of names and came to the business section on page 159 There are 182 pages in the book. On page 159 one finds.
