Hello,

my great aunt Ingeborg Hauge Petersen (1877-1960) had a child, Einar, born in Bud, Norway and baptized November 16, 1902 according to a baptismal certificate. She lived in Kristiansund at the time but had the child in Bud.

We are wondering if we can find the father's name-it is listed as Rasmus with no last name on the baptismal certificate. Einar was later Einar Hauge Petersen, as he took his stepfather's last name.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can find the last name of Einar's father? We believe he may have come to the U.S. at some point so may have died here in the U.S.

Thanks for any help you can give me! Inez Bergquist

His baptism was in Kristiansund, original, transcription. The original appears to have been damaged by a fire; hence only the first four letters of the father's last name are readable. The father'soccupation appears to have been handelsbetjent; i.e., sales clerk, and he was born in 1870, or possibly 1876.

There is a Rasmus Wiklem's family grave in Kristiansund, so he probably died in Norway:

Ove was born out of wedlock and his mother Johanna Nilsdatter married Iver Iversen in 1842.

Johanna in 1875 Census, looks like one of Ove's sons is living with her and her husband.

According to the marriage record Lars Pedersen was 26 years old in 1820, giving him a birth year of about 1794 and his farm is Grande.

Here he is with his family on Grande in the 1801 Census. His father is Peder Larsen and mother is Anne Jonsdatter
