He started to use the surname Lieberg around 1855. He lived several places in USA. He died in 1915 in Pasadena, California. See Anne Margrethe Seland: "Fra Våler via Oleana til Midtvesten" i Slækt & Slekt, Medlemsblad for Solør Slektshistorielag nr. 4/ 2002, p. 3-13.
