Newspaper advertisement for the Ganger Rolf in Bergens Adressecontoirs Efterretninger, 16. April, 1857
A contemporary newspaper advertisement announced that the Norwegian barque Ganger Rolf, registered at Sandefjord and under the command of Captain Dahl, was scheduled to depart from Bergen for Quebec in early May.
The vessel measured 214 Norwegian commercial lasts and was described as only one year old, copper-fastened, and a particularly good sailing ship. According to the advertisement, the Ganger Rolf had an unusually high and comfortable tweendeck, providing suitable accommodation for emigrants. Passage was offered both in steerage and in cabins. Bookings and further information were available from N. Nilsen, B. S., in Bergen.
The Ganger Rolf subsequently departed Bergen for Quebec with 188 passengers, including 13 children.
