My gggggrandfather was Pierre or Peter Bohrs or Boors or Booz.. His surname was written in so many ways that I could not tell which one was closer to the phonetic reality (only a norwegian could tell). On his death certificate in Rimouski, Quebec (1819), it is written that he was born in Norway, around 1752. I know that he was already in Canada in 1794 as he got married in Quebec City in a Protestant Chapel. No reference was ever found to his parents of place of birth. Were there ships that came in America with norwegian emigrants before 1800 ? Otherwise, the only clue that I have is that he was said to be a pilot or a navigator. I am wondering if commercial or fishing boats from Norway coming in the St-Lawrence River (Canada) were ever registered anywere.
Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.

Louise
