Hello,

I recently discovered that my great-uncle, Carl Edvin Johannesen, was a passenger on the Concordia in its 1873 voyage to Moisie, Quebec, Canada. He was 16 years old at the time. I read about the controversy surrounding that voyage at http://www.NorwayHeritage.com/ships/concordi.htm . It is most fascinating.

I'm trying to determine what happened to Carl afterwards, and to locate his living descendents, if any. All I know from family anecdotes is that he had three children in Canada by the names of Herbert, Clifford and Christine (supposedly an accomplished opera singer), and that's all I know (it is likely he took the 'Johnsen/Johnson' surname, but this is not absolutely certain.)

Of course, I'm curious to know if Carl was mentioned anywhere in the subsequent Norwegian and Canadian government investigations into the event, for example, if he was imprisoned for escaping the slave conditions.

Any help, including contacts with those who are doing research on the Moisie affair, would be most appreciated.

Thanks!
