Looking for help please in finding further details of life of Dina, sister of Sigvart and Alexander Gabrielsen (see also separate forums on this site):

- daughter of Gunder Hadland/Gabrielsen and Anne Oline Tollaksdr

- born Stavanger, 12/9/1868

- 1875 census for Stavanger shows Dina and Sigvart in orphanage. (Mother Anne Oline died 1874)

- April 1894 - married in Belfast, Ireland (??)

- 1900 census for Stavanger lists Dina as a seamstress living with the Endressen family and again using her maiden name, with usual place of residence shown as Belfast

Can find no record of her marriage, any children or death.

Grateful for any help in filling in the gaps

In the 1900 census she was living in Øvre Dalgate 4.

The Endresen family was 3 unmarried siblings. Dina is also recorded as unmarried and her birthyear is said to be 1874.

Dinas father Gabriel Gundersen was married the 3rd time July 23 1879, see #29.

There are eight people on this page, four ladies and four men.So I would assume she married one of the men. They are John Burton, Albert Callow, Samuel Craig Montgomery, and Andrew Scott. Lets see if we can figure out which one was her husband.

Thanks for these updates. Frustrating day at the National Archives in Kew yesterday - I checked out every single entry for the 1901 and 1911 Ireland census for each of the four of the potential husbands - with zero success. So did the marriage end between 1894 and 1901 ?? What happened to her following her return to Stavanger ??

Thanks to the forum response for Sigvart, I have the place and date of birth for all of Dina's, his and Alexander's siblings - but I don't have any dates for mariages or deaths.

It is not easy to find information on those living in Northern Ireland around 1900 but here may be some information on one of the males assumed to be a candidate for the husband to Dina. The birth year is about right.

Name: Samuel Craig Montgomery
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 16 Apr 1875
Birth Place: Ireland
Father's Name: William Montgomery
Mother's Name: Ann Jane Mc Collum

Einar, on re-reading this, I only just picked up the comment about Gabriel's THIRD marriage. Can you please help with reading where his bride Anne Malene came from and her father's name please. I can't make them out. Regards David

Seems like Nærbø sogn (parish) is the one belonging to her name, her father was Ole Gabrielsen.
Nærbø is in Haa parish, Rogaland.
