A great aunt who gave me information on the Thor Staven/Stavn family and on Jens Edevind Markusen family said that the information on Jens E. Markusen family is in "Book Volume no. one, Page 437" and that information on the Thor Staven/Stavn family is in "Book Volume no. one, Page 446". Does anyone have any idea what books these might be?

Most likely a bygdebook, which is a kind of local history for farms and families in different areas. These books can often give you tons of historical information about the places where your ancestors came from, and add several generations to your family tree.
