Hi, i would like any information on the Thuesen name from Fredriksheld, Norway. This is where my grandfather and his brother came from when they came to america. His mother, dad, and sister are all buried in Norway

Fredrikshald (now Halden) is situated in Smaalenenes Amt (now Østfold County) on the Swedish border

Persons in the county in the 1865 census who used the surname Thuesen:

Arne Thues. worker, age: 31 born in Skjeberg Parish
Nils Thues. sawmillworker, age: 43 born in Sarpsborg
Andreas Thues. carpenter, age: 60 born in Frederikshald
Anne Louise Thues. servant, age: 29 born in Berg Parish

Carl Thues. worker, age: 24 b. Skeberg
Ole Thues. worker, age: 17 b. Skeberg
Annette Thues. daughter, age: 15 b. Skeberg

Gunder Thues. tanneryworker, age: 34 born in Skjeberg Parish
Sophie Thues. wife, age: 38 born in Thorsnæs Parish
Anton Thues. son, age: 7 b. Frederikstad
Thea Thues. daughter, age: 7 b. Frederikstad
Emil Thues. son, age: 4 b. Frederikstad
Gunda Sophie Thues. daughter, age: 2 b. Frederikstad

Anne Thues. servant, age: 48 b. Berg
Lars Thues. cotter, age: 55 b. Berg (brother of Anne?)

Persons who has Tue or Thue as first name:

Thue Svens. worker, age: 60 born in Skeberg (father of Carl, Ole, Annette, maybe also Arne, Gunder, Thue?)

This name was not very often used in Norway!

Today only a total of 42 Norwegians have Thuesen as surname.

Hello Nina;

I read Tim Thuesen's posted re: Thuesen, but had missed this one.

I know little more than the basic facts about a distant cousin Marie Knudsen (b. April 26, 1908 at Hisøy to Karl Emil and Gunhild Katrine Knudsen; d. February, 20 1997 at Oslo) except that her married name was Thuesen.

What's your source for 42 Norwegians currently bearing the Thuesen surname?
