Searching for Emanuel Pederson, b. Oct 11, 1886 in Bergen, Norway. His christening name was Immanuel Bertin Pedersen, but it seems as he later used Emanuel as his given name. His father’s name is Hans Pedersen, born 1854, and his mother’s name is Ingeborg Martine Andersdatter, born 1849. His mother died between 1891 and 1896. His father then married Haldri Johnesdatter.
Emanuel came to Ellis Island on March 24. 1906 from Liverpool with SS Campania, and were met by a man named Earl Morgan. Probably an agent for a shipowner, as he was on route to his job as a seaman. It’s unknown which shipowner he had contract with.
Next sign from Emanuel comes in a Declaration of Intension from Kings County in New York at Nov 25. 1912. There is a certificate, no. 28305, that gives some information.
Then we find Emanuel Pedersen as a seaman, arriving New York at Jun 19. 1918 from Buenos Aires onboard the Norwegian ship “Johan Ludwig Mowinckel”. In a note it says that he was discharged and sent to hospital.
At Aug. 12. 1918 we find a WW1 draft registration no. 3678 where he states that his address is no. 27 at 3rd Str. in Brooklyn, New York. He is now unemployed, but still a Norwegian citizen (what happened to the Declaration of Intension in 1912 ?)
When his father died in 1925, the death declaration says that he was living in America, but at an unknown address. (it is his sister Agnes that gives this information)
And that is the last sign we can find of Emanuel Pedersen. Is there anyone that can help us with this problem? Regards Bjarne Husevåg

This is clearly him, with father, stepmother and siblings in the 1910 census, althougj the date of birth doesn't match the one you give. Occupation fyrbøter til sjøs (stoker at sea). You mentioned one instance that he sailed with a Norwegian ship, and I wonder if he may have done so regularly. In that case he might have left regular traces in some Norwegian sailors' roll..

Tank you all for helping us out with this problem. We have to check out the Alaskan trace to see if that could be Emanuel. There is also a possibility that he continued sailing, or that he moved to another country. Regards Bjarne
