My great-grandfather's parents died on the ship as they were traveling to America in 1843. He was adopted by a family and became Lasse (Elias) Jones. I have also ran across the name Hansen. Does anyone know how to find records of passengers who died and were buried at sea?

Another good source is Gerhard B. Naeseth's book "Norwegian Immigrants To The United States, a biographical directory, 1825 - 1850, Vol. 1 1825 - 1843. Wisconsin 1993. The book gives a lot of biographical information on most of the immigrants.

Terry, I have the Naeseth book and can do a lookup if you provide some more information, like age, and names of other family members.
