I have found a record of Carl and Anne Burstad in the US, Evangelical Luthern Church in America Church Records, 1781 -1969, on October 5th 1901 and March 10 1902, but can't read (and therefore translate) all of the notation

For Carl: after leaves the widow Anne born Gilbertson.....
and for Anne#370; was the wife of the Burstad mentioned above

Can anyone help?

Thanks - Gary Borstad

"For Carl: after leaves the widow Anne born Gilbertson" reads to me as Gulbrandsen Løken

Maybe the Løken farm from Jevnaker, Oppland?

The last word on that line looks like a farm name Løkeneide, which would be a husmannsplas attached to the main Løken farm.

Added this before I saw that you had replied

This is probably the father of Anne leaving Norway in 1869. Nr 31. Called Johan Gulbrandsen Løken.

"was the wife of the Burstad mentioned above"

I would have translated this line as

was the widow after above mentioned

as it looks to me like "var enken etter ovennevnte Borstad"

Yes Thanks very much Anton. I see the Løkeneide now.

I have Jon. G. Gulbrandsen/Gilbertson Loken as Ann's father.

I was hoping to find the reason why Karl and Anne died within a few months of each other. I haven't been able to find any other information on their deaths.
