Hello,

I am wondering if anyone is knowledgeable on how to find the locations of farms listed in historical records like the census?

I have a number of farms that I have been working to locate. I believe I MAY have found some of them, but it is really woodcut to know.

Here is a list of the farms as they are listed in historical records:
Rud Vestre, JevnakerParish, Oppland
Rud Ostre, Jevnaker Parish, Oppland
Brendengen, Hov Parish, Oppland
Sondre Sand, Land Parish, Oppland
Grime, Hov Parish, Sondre Land, Oppland
Venåsen Farm, Gran Parish. Oppland
Mørtvedt, Gran Parish, Oppland
Asp Ødegaarden, Nodre Land, Oppland
Bratlien, Nodre Land, Oppland

I apologize, I know it is a long list. I have found some possible locations on Norgeskart, but it has been difficult to figure out if I’ve actually found the correct places, and some appear to not exist or to have changed names.

I think your question is a bit more complex than you may think.

Here is a list of farm names and GNR/ Bnr numbers in Gran. As to whether or not your ancestors were actually on those farms we can't see;

Most bydgebok have these numbers attached to farms and families within. But Hadeland doesn't have bygdeboker per se.

A good start on finding farms is Norwegian Wikipedia, but yes Farm books help, as well as looking at Norgeskart. See below for links, if you need anything beyond that, like help with the transcription of a historical name of an entry or looking for a specific farm, let us know.
