What does the * after a name in the Patronymic column signify?

Thank you

Hello Robert
* after a piece of information, e.g. a patronymic or surname/farm name, indicates that the information is not given in the original, but included by the registrator on the basis of the information regarding the surrounding persons in the source. Like if a head of family was Lars Olsen Hauge, and his son was listes only as Peter, the entrance in the table would be Peter Larsen* Hauge*, based on the info given about his father.

If you are using the search, there is an explanation to the different symbols at the end of each page.
