The information listed above is not the complete record of the ship. The information was collected from a multitude of sources, and new information will be added as it emerges

In 1862 the Adler departed Bergen on Apr. 23, and arrived at Quebec June 27. She was mastered by Capt. Strøm. According to a Norwegian newspaper she was carrying 290 passengers. Because the National Archives of Canada [NAC] did not start the archiving of passenger lists before 1865, and the Norwegian emigration records did not start before 1867, there is no surviving passenger list for this voyage in any of those archives. Timeline to records.

Newspaper notice
Morgenbladet May 7, 1862

In 1866 the bark Adler, 463 tons, arrived at Quebec from Bergen in ballast. She was carrying 281 steerage passengers and 1 cabin passenger. One woman died on the passage of senile-debility. Adler was mastered by Capt. Niels Jensen Strøm and had a crew of 17. Acording to the newspaper "Den vestlandske Tidende" (nr. 49, Thursday 25. April 1867) the Adler left Arendal for Quebec carrying 58 passengers, mostly from Øiestad, Moland og Froland and the surrounding mountain districts. 32 of the emigrants were adults (over 14 years.) four was between 10 - 14 years old, 17 between 1 - 10, and 5 were infants under the age of 1 year. The majority were going to join up with family members in the US. The ship stranded in the St. Lawrence even though there was a pilot aboard. All of the passengers and crew were saved together with their belongings. Because the ship never reached Quebec there seams to be no surviving passenger list. The telegram telling about the stranding of the Adler was sent from Quebec on June 11.

Den vestlandske Tidende 13. juni 1867:
