Here is a good candidate for Erik coming to the US except on the manifest it states that he is going to viisit a friend M Moller in Summit South Dakota.

Thank you Doug and Anton for helping me, I really appresiate it.
The lady is helping an old uncle, he wants to find out (2006) what happened to Mari before he die, Mari´s sister was his mother.
Erik Skamser´s dest in 1902 was Wisc. He sailed on ship Angelo, changed ship in Hull, England.
The visitor to a friend S. Dakota could be a name sake, it was an Erik Pedersen, ab. same age on Angelo, from Nes in Hallingdal, dest was Washingen (Washington?)

One of the most interesting findings above was the marriage of John Johnson Koien and Maria Andesdatter in 1886. Trying to trace the name Koien did not lead me to any other connectons, however today I came across the following in Brukarforumet. I am not sure it bears on this but might be worth following up on.

Hi,
interesting web-debate on Brukarforumet and the name Koien, means a small hut/cabin.
Seen it spelled Kojen, likely pronunciated Koia in the everyday speech (not be mixed up with the Chinese Kejian changed to Kojen in English if one make searches online)

There were three farms containing Koien (Koien, Koiensæteren, Lille-Koien) in Sel sub parish in Vågå around 1900 and later.
Vågå is close to Skjåk in the same valley; Ottadalen (Otta-valley) where Mari Andersdtr came from.

Maybe it is worth writing a letter asking if his John Johnson is the same John Johnson Koien who married Mari Andersdatter in Wisconsin in 1886. Or I suppose you could plug into Brukarforumet and ask that way since it seems to be active.
