From the Hjelmeland location in Rogaland the probable port of departure would have been through Stavanger. Most of that city/port's original emigration records burned -- so you might not find an emigration record.

Did you thoroughly search through the parish utflyttede records for Hjelmeland/Årdal? Was he mentioned in the Årdal bygdeboker?

Hi.
I believe Ole´s father Jørgens Olsen was born in Solum parish in Telemark (see the 1865 census) on April 8. bap. April 26. 1812.
Parents; Ole Johannesen and Gunild Torgrimsdatter Store Rindal, see right page, right column 3. from bottom, Jørgen.

Thanks for that,Is it possible to find who Oles brother, Gudmund married and if they had any children so I could possibly find some living relatives.Another case is who their sisters Anne and Gonel married and if they had any children? I have some friends from Iowa coming over and Ole Gjørgesen were her grandfather they are coming from America to Stavanger, and I thought I'd try and
find the farm where Ole Gjørgensen came from and take em out there to see it if it's still there, and
Maybee meet some relatives too.

The baptismal record for Ole Jørgensen is #36 - born Aug 20, parents Jørgen Olsen and Gunla Gregarsdatter, Kirkhuus.

When Gudmund was born, Aug 13 1860, they were at Vasbakkene, see #39.

Anna was born on Høiland June 7 1854 (before they married), see #21.

Gundla (Gonel) was born May 22 1865 at Vasbakkene, see 3rd record on left page.
