I am looking for more information on my great grandfather, Andrew Larson, born in Teske, Norway May 10, 1848. I believe he came to America in 1869, settled in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He married Olena Evans?? My grandfather was their son Bernhard (Bennett) Larson.

I would like information on Andrew and also his family in Norway and any brothers and sisters.

Just curious, what is the source for Andrew's birth date and birth place?

I believe I found the location, month and day on Ancestry.com. His birth year, 1848, is on his tombstone in Dodgeville, WI.

I am mostly interested in info about his Norwegian ancestry. I have read online that his father was Christian Larson from Flatestol farm, Moi, Norway. He was born 15 Sep 1829. I don't know is this last info is correct.

The baptismal record for his father Christian Larsen (based on your info) is #28 - last record on left page.
His parents were Lars Bærntsen and Anne Carlsdatter, Fladestøl.

Christian Larsen was married to Malene Andersdatter March 6 1849, #2.

Their children were:
Laers born May 10 1849, #18, and
Andreas born Aug 7 1851, #29, and
Anders born Sept 12 1853, #32.

Christian Larsen died 25 years old at Texe Aug 24 1854, #10.

March 30 1856 the widow Malena Andersdatter, Texe moved out from Heskestad in Lund, Rogaland to America with her three children, #3-6.

Here is a transcription of a death record for an Andrew Larson living in Dodgeville, father's name is given as Lars Larson birthdate as 8 May 1848:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XLSV-Q32

The origin of the clue "Teske" becomes important because there is no place in Norway called Teske, at least not in my map book.

The information about Christian Larson which gives the farm name Texe is interesting, but in all likelihood Christian Larson's children in Norway would have been known as "Christiansen" rather than Larson. Texe, being a farm name would not usually be given as the place of origin.

Here is a possible Anders Larson b 8 May 1848 Stange Hedmark to Lars Gudbrandson and Else Olsdatter:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N4P6-ZZZ

Here is Anders actual birth / baptism record (rather than the transcription above) #116, living on Morstuen-faldet:
Source information: Hedmark county, Stange, Parish register (official) nr. 11 (1846-1852), Birth and baptism records 1848, page 44.

Here is an Andreas Larson age 21 domiciled at Stange H. leaving through Oslo in 1869:

Here is Andreas Larson with his father and sibling in 1865:

I believe the birthplace Teske (misread for Tekse=Texe) and the name and birth of his father mislead me. Based on the death record Andreas from Stange seems much more realistic even though there is a difference regarding the fathers name.

- well Teske should have been Tekse =Texe - 4 Texe farms are in Rogaland.

- if the "origin" is related to birth - it would.

Confused.
I also believed that Texe and Fladestøl in Moi was correct Einar.

Seems like some of the info found online was incorrect

Andreas Larsen from Stange arrived Quebec on ship Argonaut June 19. 1869

The other side of that equation is how many Andrew Larsons b. about 1848 are there in Dodgeville who also came in 1869?

Texe would be a good interpretation of Teske --wish I thought of it!-, but as you know there is no Andreas / Anders Larson b 10 May 1849 or 1848 in Lunde.

Most of the women on the voyage are "___datter" not "____sen"

If you look at the leaving from Oslo record Lars is right next to Andreas as Lars Gullmundson. comme ci, comme ca.
