Martin Halvorsen born 11 november 1871 in Husom,Åsnes lived in Hof 1893 when he emigrated to Quebec.Date of travel is 14 april 1893. He went with the Montebello. I do not know more. He is the older brother of my great grandfather. Does anybody know something about him?

Martin Halvorsen arrived Quebec 04 May 1893 on the SS SARMATIAN,
Hard to read his destination... Brodland Wisconsin?? Same destination: Milla Olafsen (19) and Lars Eriksen (20)
Can't believe that they have such poor image quality of the scans in 2020...

The only fit found in Wisconsin in 1900 US Census is named Martin Holmen? Born Nov 1871 arrived 1893. And living in Green County, Wisconsin,

Good find Jackie, seems as if this could be the right family. Here is the confirmation record for Ole Marius Halvorsen. Parents are Halvor Hågensen and Oliane Olsdtr. Same as the original record for Martin Halvorsen.

An obituary published in Rockford Illinois Morning Star Sunday 4 Nov 1962 on Mrs. Hilda Horne who died 2 Nov 1962 described her as a lifelong resident of Beloit Wisc. She was a daughter of Mr & Mrs Martin Holmen and was survived by her husband William Horne (who she married 24 Sept 1938) and 3 sisters: Mrs. Minnie Sheard, Mrs. Amanda Udell, and Mrs. Selma Shaw, all residents of Beloit Wisc.

An obituary published in the Rockford Illinois Morning Star on Saturday 24 June 1961 for Martin Holmen titled "Beloit Area Ex Farmer Dies at 89" says he died at home 1005 Portland Ave. in Beloit Wisc. on 23 June 1961. He married Alma Berg in 1893 in Brodhead Wisc. He worked as a farmer in the Beloit area until 1919 when he moved into the town of Beloit. When he retired from farming he worked for a company named Besly Welles Corp. and after that in the salvage dept. of the Fairbanks, Morse and Co retiring there in 1951. Survivors are his wife and 4 daughters, 2 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and his brother Morris of Beloit.

An obituary publish in the Rockford Illinois Morning Star on Thursday 30 April 1964 for Morris Holmen who died 28 April 1964 in Beloit, Wisc. He is survived by his wife Hilma.

Also there is a notice in the Rockford Illinois Morning Star on Sunday 10 Mar 1940 that Ole Marius Halvorson has applied to become US citizen and at the same time is requesting a named change to Morris Holmen.

Also in the Morning Star on Tuesday 28 Dec 1926 a notice that a marriage license was issued to Morris Holmen age 40 and Mrs. Hilma Ayle age 34 both of Beloit.

Yes it is the right people. My great grandfather Richard who was a brother of Martin and Marius was also born in "Holmen". Venbergsholmen is the correct name though.He was born 1873. Thank you all very much. I should have some 3rd cousins over there. I guess.
