The Idaho (official No. 58,901) was an iron screw steamer, brig-rigged, built at Jarrow, County Durham, in 1869. She was powered by two simple surface-condensing engines rated at a combined 440 horsepower. The Idaho was a sister ship to the Nevada. The Idaho was fitted out to carry 72 first-class passengers, and 800 steerage passengers.
